Manager, Property Accounting
Catalyst Community Developments Society is a not-for-profit real estate developer, owner, and manager/operator with over 500 affordable rental homes currently in operation, and over 800 additional homes and 60,000 sq. ft. of community program space currently in various stages of development across BC. We are currently seeking a Manager, Property Accounting, to join our team. The successful candidate will be an organizational leader who takes satisfaction in creating and maintaining strong financial reports, has an unflappable demeanor, excellent strength of character, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholder needs. The Manager, Property Accounting, will have primary day-to-day responsibility for all property-related accounting functions for nine properties, comprising three commercial leases and 541 residential units. Three of these projects are in partnership with other charitable and non-profit entities. Our projects are often complex with multiple stakeholders and lenders requiring various financial reports – this role would be a good fit for someone who enjoys learning, high independence and autonomy, hard work, and accounting puzzles. This role is a very hands-on role and will be highly involved in helping grow the property accounting team as the portfolio grows. The focus of the role is on the operating portfolio of properties and this role is expected to become the primary go-to contact for all things property accounting. Reporting to the Vice President, Accounting & Administration, your responsibilities will include:
- All aspects of property accounting including AR/AP, bank, loan schedules, monthly reports, and GST filings as applicable. Support and manage improvement of policies and procedures for property accounting.
- Prepare monthly reporting packages as needed for our Property Operations Committee, staff, and partners.
- Assist external accountants with preparation of consolidated year-end audited financial statements.
- Correspond with our 3rd party property managers, CRA, our financial institutions, and external resources as needed.
- Coordination and oversight of part-time bookkeepers.
- Support growth of property operations division, including coordinating the integration of new properties into the accounting workflow.
- Special projects as required.

Qualifications/Experience
- Work experience that demonstrates the above qualities and skills; 10 years of overall professional experience with a minimum of 5 years direct experience in property accounting (primarily residential property accounting, but commercial property accounting an asset).
- Experience with Arcori, Yardi, and/or non-profit housing would be an asset.
- Team leadership experience would be an asset.
- CPA designation is required.
- Intermediate to Advanced Excel skills.
