But instead of collecting a profit, we reinvest our margins into increased affordability – and new development projects.
Our respected staff and Board of Directors are experts in development and business operations, with decades of private sector development experience. Our entrepreneurial model combines real estate investing and development with community benefits, and offers you a fair rate of return, too. Investments are loaned to the project for the duration of the development, and then repaid upon completion of construction. In other cases, your investment can remain in the project for a longer term, with interest paid over time, and principal repaid once debt has been reduced through project rental revenues.
Our direct investments in Catalyst projects are among my favourite to talk about. We not only earn a decent financial return for our Foundation’s endowment, but with the creation of more rental housing, and the new models of community ownership and collaboration, I can directly see and experience the impact being created here.
